EFF asks to make jailbreaking legal

Did you know that “jailbreaking” or “rooting” your Android or iOS (Apple) device is illegal? Well, under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (already outdated 11 years after the millennium), it absolutely is. You could literally go to jail. Crazy, isn’t it? Don’t you own your device, among other issues?

The much-to-be-praised Electronic Frontier Foundation is asking the US Copyright Office to exempt jailbreaking from activities forbidden under the DMCA. Which is wonderful, like having a gun can be wonderful. Or fatal.
